| Additional Information | the AFNORTH International School was established in 1967 (first called AFCENT International School) to serve the educational needs of the children of four nations contributing staff to the Headquarters of the Allied Forces Central Europe (AFCENT). The four sponsoring nations are: Canada, Germany, the UK and the USA. The founding statutes ask that curricula be developed, which meet the requirements of each nation, while at the same time providing enriching international educational experiences. So far instruction programmes have been standardized in the English language classes in years one to six together with an integrated middle years' programme. There are a variety of common courses in the middle and upper grades for both English and German speaking students. There is a strong emphasis on the learning of languages throughout the school and the International Language Programme offers German, French and English at all levels. The "Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache" by the GoetheInstitute is taken as a final examination and there is a course for the University of Cambridge First Certificate Examination and the TOEFL tests. |
